MEGAN'S FLUTTERBY FUND

WELCOME " MEGAN'S FLUTTERBY FUND" SITE has been set up in memory of Megan Bell who died aged 13 years of a life limiting condition. Megan was profoundly disabled and during her lifetime we had to fund raise to obtain lots of specialized equipment and other things such as switches to activate toys and computer. The purchase of musical instruments ,which the children find so exciting and stimulating. Bean bags, mats, lights, mirrors the list is endless. A lot of this equipment to enrich her life was not supplied by the Health Service as they do not fund for lots of these things. We too had help from our local community, friends and wonderful people who helped us do this .

We now have set out to help other families with children like Megan in her memory to have these things through her Fund. Our aim is to raise funds to help special needs and life limited condition children in our local community to be able to have as many of these things that we are able to help towards or purchase for.

Being specialized equipment can cost from as little as £30 for a switch to hundreds of pounds depending on the child's ability, but can make such a difference to the child's everyday quality of life and the joy and achievement it can bring by being independent for those short moments . Fibre Optic lights and musical instruments such as an ocean drum again bring such enjoyment but cost around a £1000 for lights and £80+ for the drum.

We hope you like our Blog and please feel free to post your comments and Thank you for taking the time to look .

PRESS RELEASE

PRESS RELEASE
A family from MEGAN'S FLUTTERBY FUND in NORTHAMPTON is set to make a once-in-a-lifetime dream trip to No. 10 Downing St on August 21st as part of a very special tour around London for children supported by hospices and charities across the country organised by The Sporting Bears Motor Club.

Described as a car club with a heart, all the Sporting Bears club members have pledged to help children’s charities by taking part in a range of social and Dream Rides activities. The Sporting Bears have a long history of supporting children’s charities and are still celebrating after raising £57k for BBC Children in Need at CarFest North!

This year’s event follows previous trips to the capital where children and families have been guests of honour at Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament.

ALFIE ARNSBY has been chosen to take part in the 2015 event which will see 10 families chauffeur driven in a fleet of luxury cars supplied by Bentley UK, all driven by a team of Sporting Bears volunteers and escorted through London by the Special Escort Group. This elite Met Police armed motorcycle team are more used to escorting Royals and visiting Heads Of State but have agreed to help make the journey through London especially memorable as they pass famous London Landmarks including Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace before arriving at Number 10 Downing Street where the children and families will be treated to a special tour around the Prime Minister’s house.

North West regional representative for the Sporting Bears Motor Club, Max Walker, commented "Most people take a special day out for granted, but some of the families we support have never had the chance to visit London before and even a family trip can take a huge effort due to the additional needs involved."

"It really is our privilege to provide a luxury tour of the capital, and treat these children and parents to an experience they can treasure forever."

"All of the children we support are facing issues that many adults would find difficult; some are suffering life-limiting illnesses or have overcome immense personal challenges. Our volunteers are delighted to help build some happy memories for the families Gisela Bell added "it will be a wonderful day for a super little boy and his family"

The children and their families will be treated to a reception at Hilton London Metropole, after enjoying a complimentary stay with the chosen hotel partners.

Some families have kindly agreed to meet with press and talk about their special stories.
