MEGAN'S FLUTTERBY FUND

WELCOME " MEGAN'S FLUTTERBY FUND" SITE has been set up in memory of Megan Bell who died aged 13 years of a life limiting condition. Megan was profoundly disabled and during her lifetime we had to fund raise to obtain lots of specialized equipment and other things such as switches to activate toys and computer. The purchase of musical instruments ,which the children find so exciting and stimulating. Bean bags, mats, lights, mirrors the list is endless. A lot of this equipment to enrich her life was not supplied by the Health Service as they do not fund for lots of these things. We too had help from our local community, friends and wonderful people who helped us do this .

We now have set out to help other families with children like Megan in her memory to have these things through her Fund. Our aim is to raise funds to help special needs and life limited condition children in our local community to be able to have as many of these things that we are able to help towards or purchase for.

Being specialized equipment can cost from as little as £30 for a switch to hundreds of pounds depending on the child's ability, but can make such a difference to the child's everyday quality of life and the joy and achievement it can bring by being independent for those short moments . Fibre Optic lights and musical instruments such as an ocean drum again bring such enjoyment but cost around a £1000 for lights and £80+ for the drum.

OUR YEAR 2014

Hi Everyone,

Well we are now into the first week of 2015 and I have been asked by a few people if I would do a short review of our year 2014.
It was a busy year with the usual Craft Fayres and fund raising events and we had lots of fun and laughs. We had two Sponsored events during the year Kate Favell did the Mud Run for us a very challenging event, jumping in rivers mud up to her thighs and was exhausted when she completed it  but a fantastic of her to do for us. Then Spencer Lyman Abseiled down Express lifts tower for us in August and day not for the faint hearted as we had a thunder storm and the rain just poured down on us all while he made his way down the tower amazing!  Then we had our Family Fun Day at The Long Boat Duston which was a fantastic event starting in the morning and going on through the whole day and evening. We had the Cantare Singers raise money for us Waitrose Wotton and again the Long Boat did a Race night and karaoke evening for us plus we have had other smaller donations coming in from lovely people that just continue to support us. We ended the year with Our Children,s Christmas Party attended by 52 children a full house lol.  Our Grand total raised in 2014 was £3169.47. During the year we fulfilled 6 requests which is brilliant and we have to thank all those wonderful people that continue to support us and help at our events.

We hope we will have a great 2015 and plan to do some more events during the year.
Thinking caps are on for something different and fun too.

Many thanks to everyone and we wish you all a Happy Healthy and Wonderful New Year.

Much Love from us all  xxxxx
